Scalp Massage – How to Do a Proper Scalp Massage

Scalp massage is literally the most effective, cheapest (it’s free!), and simple thing you can do to grow hair. Scalp massage immediately increases blood flow and circulation to the scalp and the hair follicles, relieves stress and tension which can hinder your body’s ability to concentrate energy on hair growth, and removes excess sebum or dead skin that may be clogging your follicles. All of these benefits lead to the result you are looking for: they help to grow hair. This means increased growth rate (faster hair growth? yes, please!), and healthier, stronger, thicker, shiner hair. But how do you do a proper scalp massage? How long does it take? Where do you start? I’ll share my technique, with step by step scalp massage instructions – usually available only in my book – for free, right now. HOW TO DO A PROPER SCALP MASSAGE Start at the base of your neck, keep your fingers together and with your fingers and thumb of each hand, use light pressure and knead the muscles at the back of your neck, for about 30 seconds until you feel an “opening up” and relaxation. Move your fingers slowly toward the crown of your head, making little circles as you go. These circles should not “scrub” the scalp (or rub against your hair). If you have the right amount of pressure, the scalp will move under your fingers with the circular motion, over your skull. As you do this, allow your hand to spread so that the thumbs stay just behind your ears as the fingers advance toward the crown. Relax and enjoy this process, don’t hurry – it should take a few minutes and you should start to feel a tingling. You can press a bit harder now, as you move your thumbs in circles toward your temples, keeping the fingers squarely on the crown. When your thumbs are on your temples, begin to move your fingertips over the top of your head, toward your hairline using the same circles. Take your time and massage all along your hairline, lifting your hair up, if need be, to get to your scalp. Remember, do not scrub your scalp, instead use the pads of your fingers and gentle pressure to move your scalp around in a circular motion. Now put your head between your knees to increase the blood flow to […]

Lilash Review – Where to Buy LiLash

If you are in a rush, here’s the short story: Lilash is one of my “Holy Grail” beauty products and I now hope to never have to live without it. Seriously. It works, beyond my expectations! Did you ever notice that one thing most movie stars, famous people, and the “beautiful people” have in common is that their eyes really stand out? They “pop” if you know what I mean. Also, have you ever seen those articles where they publish pictures of famous people without their makeup on? They really do look drastically different…and they look a lot more like you and me. One of the most dramatic improvements you can make to the beauty of your face is to enhance your eyes. And the best way to achieve that is with your eyelashes! Now you can choose to cake on layers of mascara, you can put on false eyelashes (which is what most of the stars do), you can go and pay a fortune for eyelash extensions… …or you can grow your own long, lush, gorgeous lashes. Yes, really! My Mom wears false lashes and has since she was in her twenties. And she’s one of the most beautiful, striking women I know – she just has a way about her, that exudes beauty. And no doubt, her enviable lashes are definitely a part of it. She gets random compliments on them, all of the time. But the result of her long term use of false lashes is that she’s lost most of her own. Now, she really can’t go without wearing them. Same is true of eyelash extensions wearers, they regularly complain of their own lashes practically going bald from being pulled out with the application and removal of the falsies. Plus, they are a pain to learn how to do correctly, take time to get used to the feel of them, and they are expensive!!! And well, if you’re counting on mascara, there’s really only so much it can do. And if you use too much, you’ll end up looking like a raccoon, not like a drop dead beauty. So when I started to read about Lilash, I was really, really intrigued. I mean, could I really grow my own lashes to amazing lengths?? I did lots of research, read tons and tons of Lilash reviews (even saw the before and after photos and videos, some of […]

Using Fenugreek (Methi) to combat hair loss and promote hair growth.

Fenugreek has long been used by Indian women (known for their beautiful, thick, long hair) as a natural Ayurvedic hair treatment to prevent dandruff and hair loss and to promote healthy hair growth. Fenugreek, also known as methi, contains lecithin, which is an emulsifying substance. When soaked, the seeds produce a mucilage (a slippery substance which gives hair shine and slip). This quality makes fenugreek a natural conditioner. It is also a good source of protein, which is important in rebuilding and strengthening the hair shaft. The amount of protein in Fenugreek alone might explain it’s restorative ability on damaged or shedding hair. Where to buy Fenugreek: I like to buy Fenugreek Seed Tea Bags, because they are convenient. I just open up a few teabags and use the seeds when making a paste, and I also make and drink the tea! It’s so good for you! You can also buy Fenugreek in capsule form, if you’ll be taking it as a supplement. And you can buy Fenugreek liquid extract, which is perfect to use as a scalp tonic. How to mix and apply Fenugreek to the hair: You can either grind the seeds first and add to water, or you can mix the seeds with water and then grind into a paste. Add boiling water to the seeds (I open up two teabags of Fenugreek tea, put the seeds in a mug and fill with about 4-8oz of boiling water), and let steep for a few hours. When the seeds are “slimy” they are ready to be used. If you didn’t grind your seeds first, now is the time to mash them up into a paste. You can then apply this mixture to your scalp. Use any excess liquid as a rinse for your hair. Wrap your head up in a shower cap or plastic bag or plastic wrap and let this mixture sit for anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours, but remember that the mixture needs to stay moist or it will dry very hard and be difficult to rinse out. If using Fenugreek liquid extract, simply apply to scalp and cover. After leaving it on for your desired amount of time, rinse off with cool or tepid water. Rinse well to loosen any seeds or particles you may have. You can also brush these out when your hair dries. You can also use the excess tea […]

Natural Hair Loss Remedies

If you’re suffering from excessive shedding or hair loss, it can be devastating…especially when your goal is to grow long hair. The first step is to try some natural hair loss remedies, which may reduce your excessive shedding or hair fall. Typically a range of 25-100 hairs shed per day is considered normal, (but of course, this can vary) and when you are trying to grow long hair, you are probably very conscious of the amount of hair you are shedding or losing. Keep in mind, though, that as your hair gets longer, your shed hairs (for instance the hair caught in your shower drain after washing your hair) will look larger simply because each strand is longer, not necessarily because you are losing more hair. Excessive shedding and hair loss is often a sign of an underlying medical condition (anemia, thyroid issues, hormonal issues, among plenty of others) so if you are experiencing a noticeable change in the amount of hair you are shedding on a regular basis, your first step should be to consult a doctor. Do not be dismissed by your doctor and be sure to have your concerns about your hair loss taken seriously – it is NOT a simply vain complaint, as your hair fall could very well be a symptom of a serious illness. But barring any medical causes, hair loss can be increased by other factors, such as depression, stress (and excessive hair shedding usually peaks around three months after a particularly stressful event or time in your life), changes in diet (lack of protein, healthy fats, iron, or water), lack of sleep, or allergies to topical solutions. The one sure truth about excessive hair fall and shedding? There is NO one quick fix or solution that works for everyone. The key here is to experiment and test until you find the natural hair loss remedies that work for you. Here is a checklist of some natural hair loss remedies you can experiment with to reduce your shedding: Switch to using ONLY cool/cold water on your hair and scalp – avoid hot water at all times STOP using shampoos with SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) – many people are allergic to SLS and would never know it – if you have a dry, itchy, painful scalp after shampooing, this may be the relief you are looking for and will likely improve your hair fall problem […]

Cleansing Hair with Conditioner Only Wash | CO-Washing Your Hair

Wondering what it means when you read about CO, or CO-washing your hair? It means Conditioner Only, and it is a method of cleansing your hair in such a way as to retain and impart as much moisture as possible. The truth is that you don’t need to wash your hair daily, and you don’t need to use harsh cleansers and surfactants (which most shampoos are made up of) to sufficiently clean your scalp and hair. In fact, daily washing with shampoos containing sulfates can be very drying and actually damage your hair. Another consideration – many people are actually allergic to sulfates, the cleansing ingredient in many shampoos, and don’t know it. If you have an itchy or sore scalp after a wash, or shedding unrelated to other causes, you may very well have an allergy to sulfates. So what is CO-washing, who should do it, and how do you do it? CO-washing is for people who have sensitive scalps and suspect an allergy to the sulfates in shampoo, for people with extremely dry and fragile hair, and for people who are looking to grow their hair long. CO, Conditioner Only washing requires a lot of conditioner, so many people choose to use brands like Suave, White Rain, and VO5, because they are light, most of them are silicone free and they are inexpensive. You may like to use a thicker, richer conditioner for the ends of your hair and for a deep condition once per week in addition to your CO conditioner. You might also like to try the Wen haircare system, which uses a “cleansing conditioner”. Here’s how to CO: 1. Wet your hair with cool to lukewarm water. 2. Apply a generous amount (a big handful) of a light, moisturizing conditioner to your scalp and work it in gently and down your length. Use more if necessary to ensure that all of your hair is coated, with your scalp being the most saturated. Let this sit for about five to ten minutes (go about your other shower duties while waiting). 3. Gently massage your scalp, and if you’d like, apply a thicker, richer conditioner to your ends at this time. 4. Rinse with cool water, gently pat hair dry. The results of CO-washing will be a clean scalp and soft, moisturized hair. Tip: You will probably want to wash with shampoo anywhere from once per week […]

Cleansing Hair with Condition Wash Condition | CWC

When you want to grow your hair long, it’s often wise to consider alternative cleansing methods because long hair needs special care and the standard routine isn’t usually the best for it. CWC, or condition wash condition is one method you can try to keep your hair in better condition as you grow your hair long. Wet your hair with cool water and apply conditioner from your ears down (you can use an inexpensive conditioner for this step, if you like, I recommend Suave, VO5, or White Rain). Apply a gentle shampoo (I recommend a shampoo free of Sulfates, a good one is Kiss My Face Whenever or Aubrey Organics Island Natural) to your scalp and gently massage in. Your length (that still has conditioner on it) does not need shampoo, as the suds sliding down it during the rinse is enough to cleanse it. Rinse your hair, rinsing both shampoo and conditioner out. Apply conditioner a second time, from the ears down again, this time using a thicker, richer conditioner if you like (I recommend Biolage Condtioning Balm). That’s it! It’s simple, doesn’t take any longer than a normal shampoo/condition routine, and is much gentler on your hair. Whether or not you are growing your hair long, this is a good routine to adopt if you’d like to treat your hair gently and keep it growing as naturally beautiful as it can. Widgets More to learn?
